Being the son of an electrician, I’ve been involved with electric motors my whole life. These will be there for a long time, trust me, even after the internal combustion engine is nothing but a memory of the past. Sure, some things have to change in the first place: modern (mechanical) diesel and seed oils are a GREAT combination, not because of the fancy, obsolescence-programmed electronics. When I say “modern” regarding the technology in diesel engines, I talk about the alloys, optimized geometrical designs, and coatings. But that is for a different article.

Nice insight Jose thanks! Good to keep spares like little bearings for the power tools that are usually the first to break and spare brushes for brushed motors. Carbon brushes are also easy to shape from a piece of graphite or from other bigger brushes, with some skills and tools this can be done quite easily as carbon graphite is soft material and sands down easily. Also learn how to use your multimeter and you can find most faults, takes time and practice!
