Survival Saturday is a round-up of the week’s news and resources for folks who are interested in being prepared.
This Week in the News
This week on Survival Saturday, you can tie everything together with one common thread. People are told what officials want them to be told. Whether officials are covering their butts for mismanagement of infrastructure or trying to take over the White House, we’ll never get the full story. In every situation, there is an official narrative and the truth is entirely optional.
It can be difficult to operate under the reality that the truth is unattainable. The best things we can do are to question everything, believe nothing that comes through official channels, and look out for our families independently.
You are operating completely in the dark. You have to disregard the noise and focus on the things that you can control.
The time has come to realize that you can’t depend on anyone but yourself. If you aren’t prepared, it’s time to get that ball rolling.

Is President Trump being ousted?
This week, with the resignation of Gen. Mike Flynn, it became more blatant than ever that the presidency of Donald Trump is under attack by those who pull strings in the background. Why?
War.
War is huge money. (If you want to understand why everyone in Washington is insatiably hungry for war, read Gen. Smedley Butler’s expose War is a Racket. It’s less than $4 and will change your beliefs on everything.)
But the greater question is this: do our elections mean anything? President Trump was constitutionally elected, but people are continuously stirred up and manipulated by the media, the intelligence community is taking down everyone in Trump’s administration, and Congress is completely refusing to cooperate – even Trump’s own party. There’s a propagandist narrative that liberty is evil, and we are seeing the results of this in real time. (Read Brandon Smith’s excellent analysis of the rebranding of liberty.)
This video is very enlightening. I was unaware of some of the historical snippets, but when you look at them in the light of what is happening today, it’s alarming to see the parallels.
You need to see what’s happening right now. Our citizens are being divided against one another. Our president is being undermined. Peace, it seems, is not an option, either at home or abroad.
Our nation is under the most serious threat since 1861 – you need to be prepared for what is coming.
This Week in Preparedness…
This week, I wrote about the horrible mismanagement of the Oroville evacuation. This botched crisis was proof that waiting for the official evacuation order during an emergency is to risk the lives of your family. You can find more recent updates on this looming disaster below.

Will the repairs on the Oroville Spillway hold through the approaching storm?
Last week, 200,000 people were evacuated from the areas downhill from the Oroville Dam.
I’d like to say the evacuation was rapid. After all, people were warned that disaster was imminent within the next 60 minutes.
But with only a few two-lane roads out of the danger zone, traffic jams ensued almost immediately. People were stuck in their cars for hours, waiting for the predicted 100-foot high deluge of water to sweep them away. The warning that the spillways could fail in the next 60 minutes was issued at 4:21 pm, and at midnight, traffic on the routes out was creeping along. EIGHT HOURS LATER.
The official response was terrible, with the fish having been evacuated from the potential havoc days before the humans were even told there was an issue. (Check out the timeline here and tell me this doesn’t scream, “We’re covering our butts.”)
According to KTLA:
Helicopters dropped rocks and concrete into the erosion area every minute and a half late Wednesday night in “a manner that kind of glues the areas of concern,” said Bill Croyle, acting director of the California Department of Water Resources.
Ummm…“a manner that kind of glues the areas of concern.” I have to say, the technical use of the term “kind of glues” would not make me feel safer. Basically, they dumped rocks and concrete on areas that were eroding.
Despite the fact that one of the biggest storms of the year is en route and despite the fact that repairs to the spillway and emergency spillway are not complete, people were allowed to return home under an “evacuation advisory.”
Which means, “Well, we will let you go home, but we aren’t responsible if bad stuff happens. Because we advised you, but you didn’t listen.”
This entire situation has been mishandled from the get-go. Heck, for 12 years, environmental groups have been warning of the threat. Why would anyone trust the people in charge to inform them in time when they just proved they would wait until it was too late?
My friends, if you live downhill from the Oroville Dam, this is an excellent time for a vacation. Seriously. Please leave early before the next rainstorm hits. I hope that people learned something from being stuck in the horrifyingly dangerous traffic jam, but most folks went right back home. If that dam overflows and the spillways don’t hold up, it has already been proven that residents will not have time to get out. I can’t imagine a more horrifying death than being trapped in your car, watching the water coming at you, and not being able to get out of the way. It would be like a nightmare from which you couldn’t awaken.
Here’s an evacuation checklist.
Please. Get out now. If the spillways hold up, what have you really lost by leaving? If they don’t…well, you know the stakes.

California’s past megafloods – and the coming ARkStorm…
” A 43-day storm that began in December 1861 put central and southern California underwater for up to six months, and it could happen again.”
