While everyone is very concerned about North Korea’s nuclear tests, these kinds of experiments are nothing new. In fact, hundreds of them took place right here in the United States between 1945-1962, and a series of declassified nuclear test videos have recently been restored and released.
With a world that appears to be actively preparing for nuclear war, I can’t emphasize enough how vital it is to get prepared for the possibility of an attack. Each time I write about nuclear survival, it never fails that multiple people chime in…
- “I hope I die in the blast because I wouldn’t want to live.”
- “It will be an apocalyptic wasteland like “The Road.”
- “We’ll all starve to death or die of cancer.”
But that’s simply not true.
The US stopped testing nukes in 1992, but the existence of these videos, some of which have people filmed watching the blasts, absolutely prove these things:
- If you aren’t at Ground Zero, you can survive.
- A strike will not turn the entire nation into an apocalyptic wasteland.
- You need to know what to do to protect yourself and your family in the event of a strike.
It’s been 25 years since the last nuclear test, and computer simulations have become our virtual test ground – but those simulations are only as good as the data they’re based on.
Accurate data is what enables us to ensure the stockpile remains safe, secure and effective without having to return to testing… Not only are we preserving history, but we’re getting much more consistent answers with our calculations. (source)

Videos released March of 2017
This is the second batch of declassified videos that the scientists working on the project have posted on YouTube. This video compilation was released in March of 2017.
In this video, the scientists involved discuss the process of restoring the declassified nuclear test films.
To see more than 120 restored declassified nuclear test videos, go here. To grab The Organic Prepper nuclear war survival anthology, go here.
If nothing else, these videos prove that a nuclear strike, while horrific, is completely survivable for those who are not at Ground Zero. If we were all going to die in an apocalyptic wasteland because of a nuke, that would have happened decades ago. This video shows a time-lapse of every nuclear detonation that has occurred in the world since 1945.
I can’t urge you strongly enough to get prepared. These videos prove that you have every chance to survive if you know what to do in the event of a strike. Go here to learn more about preparing for a nuclear strike and here to learn about potassium iodide.
The well-prepared prepper is well-informed. Continue to learn as much as you can. Check out our brand new print version of The Blackout Book (it was an ebook before). Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson Kearney
Please note the word “Survival”
I have read the book, and I recommend it not only for nuclear survival, but also as a general prepper handbook. What I found most interesting was the general attitude of the book. Of course I hope nobody gets nuked, ever. But also, the attitude that you are going to ignore nukes because you wouldn’t want to survive in that case, well, that isn’t a prepper attitude, is it? The attitude of being ready to fight for your life with everything you’ve got is something that seems to be missing from a lot of people, and this book can definitely help with infusing that attitude.
“But you’d be surprised what you can live through.” The Genie ‘Return of Jafar’
I’ve been pointing this out forever (decades), but don’t get comfortable. The leaders of many countries also think nuclear war is survivable. That should scare the hell out of you!
You are, I presume, aware that the military established a special category of disability for those soldiers who were present at those tests, since many of them developed horrible cancers in the years afterward, and their children often suffered mutations, many of which were inconsistent with survival. And the civilians who lived within hundreds of miles of those tests have also suffered horrible rates of cancer, miscarriages, still births, and mutations in the years since those tests. Yes, you can survive them for a period of time after the initial explosions, but depending on how many bombs would be used, and my understanding is that at this time, N Korea has a limited number of those bombs, although you might survive the initial attack, the rates of cancers and other horrible consequences would be devastating.
It is obvious from Japan that a few bombs would not kill off everyone in the nation and the nation could make a recovery over a period of time. Both China and Russia have enough nukes to finish off the nation, however, it really would not be in their interests to do so.
I would be far more concerned with an EMP attack, which would have limited initial damage to humans, but far more long term consequences than a traditional nuclear attack. And would leave the infrastructure intact for use by an invading force once enough people had died to make that plausible.
Land Air Sea (Retired)/// Sure if those SOB’s who think they will run to an underground safe house, went the SHTF, While the rest of us are left behind, will find the masses waiting for them to have a front row seat’s for the best fireworks display ever/// do you still want to play?////
nuclear war is a joke. if there actually were nuclear weapons, all those who have them would be using them. ground zero in japan left a building standing. the japanese “nuclear” bomb hits were firestorms from incendiary devices.
My parents lived and worked with the Manhattan Project folks in Chicago during WWII, prior to it moving to Los Alamos. It isn’t a joke and never was a joke, nor were the thousands of Japanese who died from radiation poisoning in the years after WWII.
Um, no. Wrong again, Jer. Make an actual trip to Hiroshima before you open your trap.
DUH
They’re not talking about one nuclear explosion, which would contaminate the hell out of a lot of plant life, vegetation, soil, etc. around it and give a fuckload of people cancer. Plenty of people survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki and some witnessed the hell of seeing people melted alive or cooked by the fiery hell ball that ensued. So yeah, DUH, you can survive one. We knew dat shit, yo.
What you’re very unlikely to be able to survive is a “The Day After” scenario. There will be a shitload of Plutonium, radioactive iodine, cesium and more nasty shit floating around in drinking water and on plant life. Yeah, you can live offa canned foods if you can keep it up. The stressful part, as kids in Fukushima are now finding out as they start to drop like flies from radiation poisoning or health complications due to the cover-up of how BAD Fukushima was, is not knowing what food is contaminated and what food is pristine. It’s not as simple as running a geiger counter over it, though some Korean guys supposedly found some incredibly radioactive seaweed on supermarket shelves in Korea without really trying, and this was likely due to Fukushima’s water bleeding into the pacific at the tune of 400 tons per day.
The cancers throughout the United States are likely a result of above-ground nuclear testing, in which minute levels of fallout (radioactive particulates) blanketed nearly every region of the US and went up the food chain.
The problem here is expecting just one bomb versus a dirty harry or large thermonuclear (Hydrogen) bomb in your region.
Survive one – yes. Survive multiple strikes if everyone gets into the game?
And again we come back to the fact that you have created multiple EMP’s and destroyed a good percentage of infrastructure. I hate to keep harping on the same old thing – but we continually come back to a grid down situation where it is estimated that 9 out of 10 Americans would be dead in the first year, and that’s without radiation, fallout, etc. Even if the EMP Commission got their estimate wrong, year after year, and we only lose 8 out of 10, or even 7 out of 10, that’s still around 250 million dead in the U.S. alone.
On the upside, I guess you wouldn’t have to worry about standing in line very often at the local grocery store or shopping mall. Think of all the deals you could pick up – literally! 🙂
Which I guess would explain why certain people in positions of power or wealth are not too concerned about the loss of life after an EMP event – if their goal is to reduce world population.
When you say, “nuclear strike”, then show limited single tests, across the world, SINCE 1945, you are being disingenuous. An actual “strike”, a focused pattern of explosions on an enemy, aka, an actual “strike”, would involve MUCH higher loads than those test fires shown. It’s not even apples and oranges, it’s grapefruit and grapes. Not to say that it’s the end of the world, but seriously, get real. That’s an over 80 year range, of low almost entirely lower yield event. You lose credibility when you do that.
I’m always disheartened to see the online mockery and ridicule of the vintage “duck and cover” films. In truth, unless you’re in the immediate blast zone, taking such action would save countless lives from flying debris and broken glass. It’s also worth pondering the notion that at the time these films were made, the government clearly had the protection of its citizenry at the forefront (as other to remain nameless countries do today, with multiple, strategically located city shelters and comprehensive evacuation/shelter plans). That is, unless you consider the recently issued updated guidance to socially distance and wear a mask in your nuclear bunker “helpful”.
Rumor has it that Russia’s civil defense system is still operational and has bunker space and supplies for its entire population. America closed down its civil defense shelters before most of us were born.
Indeed….I suspect it is more than a rumor…
A big deal in Las Vegas back in the 50s was to watch the nuke tests in the Nevada desert. You could see the mushroom clouds and feel the booms. Vegas is still there.
More Fake Whistle Blowers on Today’s Global Research News Hour
Global Research is a Canadian propaganda website dedicated to waging war against America. Since I happen to be an American that is being tortured and terrorized by my own government, I can assure you that I am not defending the United States government. I hate them!
Nothing maks me sicker than hypocrisy though, and the truth happens to be that all of the governments that the United States has been colluding with in their multitude of crimes against humanity schemes are everybit as guilty as the American government is, which none of the absolute frauds on Global Research are even willing to acknowledge. They are propagandists that are gukity of re-directing any dissent that ought to be aimed at their own governments, towards the government of the United States that their governments have all willingly agreed to perpetrate sadistic crimes against humanity with.
On Global Research News Hour today a physician from Austrailia named Dr. Helen Colticott feigned moral outrage at the United States government, and feigned that she cares anything at all about human life. Dr. Helen Colticott ranted about 800 American bases around the world and said who in the helldo the Americans think they are? Dr. Helen Colticott did not utter even a single word of critism against the Austrailian government for housing a U.S. military base in Austraila. Dr. Helen Colticott spoke about Fukishima and her concern regarding nuclear war. Dr. Helen Colticott did not utter a single word of critism against her government for turning Austraila into the world’s largest nuclear waste site that will be pouring nuclear waste from around the world into under ground caverns in the Aboriginal lands. This nuclear waste will of course rise to the surface, because heat rises, and nuclear waste heats up through the process of radioactive decay. Dr. Helen Colticott claims that she spent her life as a physician trying to save lives and sat in silence as Austrailia has been transformed into the world’s largest nuclear waste site. Global Research is aware of this. Dr. Helen Colticott did not utter a single word of critism against the Austrailan government regarding medical tyranny, because Dr. Helen Colticott is a medical tyrant! She would be disclosing all of that critical information if she was not, rather than screaming like a babbling idiot about the Americans!
The Europeans thought that Austrailia has the perfect geology for dumping its nuclear waste into! More like the prefect geography! It was the Europeans that came up with the idea. The world agreed to dump its nuclear waste into underground caverns in Austrailia, even though Austrailia does not have any nuclear power plants. Austraila does mine uranium though and sell it to nuclear power plants around the world. Dr. Helen Colticott did not utter a single word of critism of Uranium mining in Austraila! It would probably interfere with her studying Uranium miners! That is just a guess! But for a physician in Austrailia to feign such moral outrage over the nuclear issue, and to ignore all of that is just too hard to believe!
Glass vitrification of nuclear waste has been shown to be helpful in the near term, and is fairly commonly used. Long term storage in this form is still a question, and a matter of scientific debate……but in my opinion, its better than the earlier methods.
