I could not make this up. Here is a glimpse inside the minds of TikTokers who are now certain Bin Laden was a benevolent genius. Do you remember the phrase, “Useful Idiots?”

We’re all passionate and naive about life at this age.
I remember being in my late teens and early 20s. I was certain at the time that I knew everything and that if the world would just listen to me, I could make it a better place. I was pretty liberal (of course, this was in the late 80s and early 90s, when liberal was an entirely different animal than it is today), and I was utterly convinced that I knew more about the world than my dad. In his wisdom, he challenged me with interesting questions and made me defend my stances with facts, not feelings. And so I evolved to realize that I didn’t know diddly squat.
I guess these kids don’t have a dad like mine, because they can’t compose an argument worth beans.
Let’s put aside for a moment all our doubts about what occurred on 9/11 and the actual culprit because that isn’t the topic of this conversation.
In this conversation, these young people believe, lock, stock, and barrel, that Bin Laden was the mastermind of an attack on American soil that took out more than 3000 innocent people. And they think he’s awesome.
It astounds me that there’s more information available than any other time in history…and they choose to “get educated” (a favorite buzzphrase) on a social media platform filled with baseless soundbites.
What’s in this letter?
It’s hard to find Bin Laden’s Letter to America online now, but here’s a copy on the web archive. After The UK Guardian pulled it, every other location I could find followed suit. I remember reading it back when it was first published, and my reaction was certainly not one of, “Ohhhh….this dude really understands life.”
The letter is Osama Bin Laden’s ravings about “why” they attacked America. No sources are cited. He simply goes on and on about the evils of America and Israel through the lens of his religious beliefs.
Bin Laden hated Jews, Americans, and gay people, just to name a few on his hit list. He believed that anyone who died on 9/11 deserved it and wasn’t innocent because they paid taxes to a country that committed the acts against which he had grievances. He was filled with hate.
But because the first segment of his manifesto mentions the Palestinians, these kids with no critical thinking skills suddenly see him as a beacon of truth.
The letter goes on to demand that everyone convert to Islam. It discusses how we’ve separated Church and State in America and says that’s a bad thing. Bin Laden cites such things as usury, gambling, intoxicants, incest, sexuality, homosexuality, and disease as uniquely American issues.
It concludes:
If the Americans refuse to listen to our advice and the goodness, guidance and righteousness that we call them to, then be aware that you will lose this Crusade Bush began, just like the other previous Crusades in which you were humiliated by the hands of the Mujahideen, fleeing to your home in great silence and disgrace. If the Americans do not respond, then their fate will be that of the Soviets who fled from Afghanistan to deal with their military defeat, political breakup, ideological downfall, and economic bankruptcy.
This is our message to the Americans, as an answer to theirs. Do they now know why we fight them and over which form of ignorance, by the permission of Allah, we shall be victorious?
This is just so dumb.
Mark my words, at this rate, it won’t be long before some of these crazy Bin Laden fan-girls convert to Islam. They truly don’t seem to grasp that if they were to follow the mandates laid out by this letter that all their gay and trans friends would be put to death, brutally executed. They don’t understand they’d be owned by men from the cradle to the grave. They wouldn’t be allowed to be educated (though we can’t say formal education has done much for these folks), and they certainly wouldn’t be airing their views on social media. There would be no more mimosa-fueled brunches, no freedom of movement, and no choices about what to do with their lives.
They just don’t understand.

TikTok is cracking down.
TikTok is cracking down on this and says it isn’t really “viral.”
While TikTok said reports of it trending were inaccurate, the #lettertoamerica hashtag on TikTok had 13.7 million views as of Thursday afternoon. “Letter to America” also trended on X, the platform formally known as Twitter, where there were more than 82,000 posts.
“Content promoting this letter clearly violates our rules on supporting any form of terrorism,” TikTok said in a statement on Thursday. “We are proactively and aggressively removing this content and investigating how it got onto our platform. The number of videos on TikTok is small and reports of it trending on our platform are inaccurate. This is not unique to TikTok and has appeared across multiple platforms and the media.”
I think the genie is out of the bottle, though. Our young people have been radicalized, which is something I’ve written about before. They’ve been taught by our education system and our media to hate America. Look at all the radicalized professors we see in the news saying shocking things lately.
And they really don’t have a clue how the real world works.
But the problem here is not that some dumb kids don’t understand the world. The problem here is that they have been brainwashed to hate their own country. And how will people who hate America ever defend her?
We’re watching the destruction of our culture in real time.
Not all Gen Z kids are this ignorant.
I’m not here to say every person of Gen Z age is horrible. There are notable exceptions. And most of those exceptions come from households like mine, who taught their kids actual critical thinking and the real difference between right and wrong. We challenged our kids to defend their ideas with facts, and if they didn’t have enough facts, we made them go look up more facts until they had a better grasp on the topic.
Cherry-picking a few comments out of an eight-page letter and waxing poetic about the ravings of a terrorist is not critical thinking. It’s not edgy or cool.
It’s idiotic.
Perhaps these fans of Bin Laden need to go live amongst the Taliban for a while and then get back to us with some videos.

Gotta say that sadly I’m no longer surprised. The wholesale takeover of young Americans and Canadians is pretty complete. As a group they are ignorant, think only in short sound bites, get their “news” on platforms such as TikTok and have been “educated” by leftist Marxists who hate the West. So they read this letter and right away sign onto a diatribe that says it’s all the fault of the Jews and Israel and if they didn’t exist we wouldn’t have had to attack you and your life would be wonderful. And they are ignorant of what BinLaden wanted for the US and what the Islamists still want for the world; a Moslem caliphate worldwide. Daisy, how familiar are you with Critical theory? Brought to the States before WWII by the Frankfort School (who were fleeing the NAZIs) and infiltrating every part of American culture, their single goal was the destruction of the culture and the paving of the way for the “New Socialist Man”.

Yep. The Unabomber came to my mind too as I read this. I remember reading some of his manifesto that they published so he’d stop mailing out bombs. I thought he was obviously intelligent and articulate and there were some compelling arguments in his writings but obviously he was batshit crazy and needed to be locked up. Never did I consider becoming a Unabomber groopy. But that was a while ago and I was well educated and capable of critical thinking. And obviously he didn’t attract a bunch of admirers. And neither did BinLaden. But times have changed as has our educational system and the young today are weaned on TikTok.
Bin Laden had a lot of admirers in Muslim countries, and among Muslims in the US. Remember the posters with photos of the Magnificent 19? I had an Iranian friend who, four days after 9/11, said Don’t you think you deserved it?
I used to teach French and Spanish as adjunct teaching staff at a university. Around 1990, an effort was made to recruit grad students who were ill-educated and hire professors who taught courses in Post-Colonialism and Deconstruction of Racist Narratives in Guadaloupe or the Central African Republic. Everyone had to get on board. For thirty years, students have been taught that people of color in developing countries were good, while white people from developed countries were evil and exploitative. It really was as simple as that. If you’re willing to write papers expounding on that, you can get a Ph.D. and tenure teaching at a university.
The truth is much more complex and less immediately rewarding.
When I was young, everyone was very sympathetic to the Jewish people, everyone was absolutely appalled by the atrocities of the Holocaust, and admired plucky, competent Israel. It wasn’t until the late ‘80s that Arabs in Israel moved into the social role of oppressed people of color, with competent, ethical Israel being relegated to the role of oppressor, along with traditional Americans, Canadians, Europeans, and Australians.
I think that the cruelty of Islam, the religion and political ideology of a billion people defined as oppressed and therefore to be supported, simply doesn’t compute in the simple minds of today’s youth. And they can truthfully say that it’s what their professors in college taught them.
Possibly a harbinger of positive change: the doctoral program in Romance Languages at MU, Columbia, Missouri, in place for many decades, was completely cancelled (in which I got a doctorate, the first years of which were in better times), as a result of the dangerous and boring strategies I described.
We have an entire generation being educated by Tic Tok.
What could go wrong?

Primarily that they have literally been brainwashed by out “education” system. Unless we completely reform our system and return control to local PTA’s this will continue and even get worse. How much is too far when it comes to exploiting and radicalizing our children? Will we do something when they encourage abhorrent behavior? How about if they attack the sexuality of our children in high school? Middle School? Elementary School?

A good source of information on Israel is Sarah Idan who grew up an Iraqi Muslim under Saddam Hussein and lived there until 2003. She represented Iraq in the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 2017. Because of her efforts to promote peace with Israel and Iraq she was invited to Israel. She said about her visit to Israel:

There is an outrage, but the outrage is misplaced. Instead of directing your outrage against Israel, who is trying to rid the world of Hamas and these evil people who are oppressing and hurting not only Israelis, but also Gazans, you need to direct your anger to Jordan and Egypt who are not allowing Gazans to come to their country. These are Arab Muslim countries. Why aren’t you demanding for Hamas to step down?
When you keep showing solidarity for the people in Gaza and attacking Israel, that empowers Hamas. They know exactly what they are doing. They’re using their civilians. There was even an interview in Qatar of the main leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, saying, “Yes, we will sacrifice our women. We’ll sacrifice our children. We’ll sacrifice our blood to hold Israel accountable.” They don’t care about killing their own people.
It’s a very tough situation. But then again, the same thing has happened over and over in history. When there is war, there are casualties of war. People need to look at this logically, and they need to look at the greater good, which is to remove Hamas from Gaza.
This is not about the displacement of Gazans like many fake activists and many corrupted Arab news media are claiming. It’s like Al Jazeera saying, “This is Netanyahu’s or Israel’s attempt to remove the Gazans, so they can take over Gaza.”
Israel was never interested in Gaza. They gave Gaza back in 2005. But because of these constant attacks and the danger that is growing, they cannot keep living in fear just to please the world, so they have to eradicate them.
Once Hamas is removed, then Gazans will go back to their homes. If Hamas doesn’t exist in Gaza, it will be even easier to get humanitarian and financial aid, because then many countries and organizations will know their money is not going to radical Islamists. It’s actually going to rebuild the city, and it’s actually going to the Palestinians.

I suspect the Tik Tokkers have always accepted the official establishment narrative that “they hate us because of our freedoms” because that’s the only viewpoint to which they’ve ever been exposed. Maybe reading BL’s letter now makes them feel as if the establishment has been pulling the wool over their eyes all this time. BL’s letter is very dangerous: it may cause these young readers to question the wisdom of engaging in violent foreign policy,
if only because of the horrific blowback . That’s why BL’s letter has always been suppressed and has now been censored by Tik Tok and the Guardian (so far).
Your point is unclear. Are you saying that bl was correct and that the youthful idiots are finally seeing the light? Surely not.
No, no. No mass-murdering terrorist is ever “correct”. (Just for the record, I condemn all terrorism.) I was trying to highlight the censorship issue. Whenever an act of mass killing occurs, everyone — law enforcement; psychologists; media; the public — seeks to know why the incident occurred. A perpetrator’s answer, regardless of what one may think of its merits, should not be censored. (One can observe this tug of war between censorship and transparency still playing out regarding the Nashville Christian elementary school shooting way back in March of this year, although some portions of the shooter’s manifesto have been leaked recently.)
Honestly, Daisy, what does this have to do with prepping? I could understand you writing about Osama Bin Laden and 9/11 as a possible scenario to prep about. But kids on TikTok say stupid things? And so what? Young kids say stupid things all the time, it’s called being young and inexperienced.
Even if you find those stupid things to be unpatriotic as well, then what? Governments rise and fall. The American government will fall someday, and as a prepper, you have to contemplate the possibility that it could fall within your lifetime. What is your priority? Do you want to outlive the American government, or not? If you don’t want to, why don’t you say it upfront? If you do want to, then what is it to you if young kids say unpatriotic things?
Why do you come on here and criticize the content? You do this regularly.

And germane to this article is the recent number of young Americans deciding to convert to Islam. They are posting about this online. So yes, young people have always tried out different identities, hair color, musical tastes, political views and so much more. But now some are not just venerating the horrific anti Western and antisemitic views of Bin Laden, Al Queda and Islamists but they are actually converting to Islam. Some of the terror attackers in the past few decades have been converts to Islam. And I suspect these kids don’t know that Islam will not allow anyone to leave Islam; doing so is punishable by death. Between the Islamists and the woke leftists, they are waging war on our children.
I just read an article about this. If you notice, I predicted it would happen in my own article. These young women don’t understand how incredibly dangerous it is to call themselves “queer Muslims.” This isn’t going to end well for them.h.

Having seen how so many of the leftists here in the US including many blacks, BLM, LBGTQ groups, feminists etc have mostly thrown their lot in with Hamas and have turned on the leftist Jews who were their “allies”, I don’t doubt that many US Muslims, including the new converts, would support jihadists in an attempt to take over the US and impose sharia on us all. Having seen how things have gone here since Oct 7 and the appalling situation on many college campuses, I don’t doubt this in the least.
No, it’s pretty scary and they have no idea what they have taken on. In Israel there are Jewish run organizations that shelter young gay Arabs who are in danger of being killed by their fellow Muslims. Sometimes these young people get lured out to their old communities by their families and are murdered. Their families consider this an “honor killing “.
Most of the clips I saw looked scripted. They all expressed the same thoughs, most using the exact same words. I suspect none of them actually read the letter.
Personally, I think it was a trial run by the Russian and/or Iranian supported organizations( that are intent on destroying the USA) to see what kind of reactions would occur.
As for being upset with a particular, remember that they are recipients of the generations before them. They were not given a good education by those generations as school funding was cut, they were not taught civics, they were taught that making money and consumerism are what make one important.
