Every year around this time, it just isn’t the holiday season if you don’t end up stuck in a long line of traffic going through a mandatory DUI checkpoint. The cops are looking for people drinking and driving, and this unconstitutional search has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
And every year around this time, when I say it is a violation of my rights, someone chimes in:
“If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you don’t have anything to worry about.”
It’s entirely possible that if I hear this argument one more time this year, I’m going to have something to worry about, because there’s going to be the body in my trunk.
I was involved in a conversation on a thread online about these checkpoints and I was deeply saddened by the dozens of people who think having their rights violated is a wonderful thing. They simply can’t wrap their heads around how very wrong this is, what a slippery slope that we are stepping onto, and how this is an entry into the police state in all its glory.
They said things like:
“Well if you havent been drinking and doing something illegal there isnt anything to worry about??? And let them get the ones putting me and my kids in danger…”
“The person who left the bar after several drinks violated my rights for a safe ride!!”
“If you aren’t doing anything wrong it was really no big deal. Took a few extra minutes but they were nice and just trying keep everyone safe.”
“Well if you don’t drink and drive then you have nothing to worry about. A little inconvenience to keep you safe is worth it.”
“Cops doing their job, checking for drunk drivers, is not a loss of freedom! A loss of freedom is the assholes who decide it is within their right to put others at risk by drinking and driving.”
“The DUI checkpoint is for safety. And thats their job. Thank you to the men and women who do their best to keep us and others safe.”
“No the drunk or impaired driver is violating my rights ,, my right to travel safely on our roadways ,,,, so check and bust away baby !!!! “
“Way to go *[location redacted]* PD.. Keeping us safe in this community . If they just catch one they could be saving someone life !!”
“They are just doing there job. I would rather see ten cops waste tax payers Dollars, then one drunk driver kill a family, or anybody”
“ I think it is great. Anything to keep drunk drivers off the road is a good thing. Thank you Placerville PD for keeping us safe!”
“I am not bothered by it at all. Wish they did them more often actually.”
“They r keeping u safe by trying to crack down on drunk drivers.”
“It is a good thing! Too many drunk drivers! Thank you law enforcement! Thank you!”
THIS HURTS MY HEAD. I actually have physical pain reading these comments, with dozens of “thumbs up” on each one.
In 1755, Benjamin Franklin wrote to the Pennsylvania Assembly:
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Those Founding Fathers had a handle on tyranny and they tried to warn us. But it seems like very few are paying attention.
My comment, which did not get dozens of “thumbs up” incidentally, was:
“Obviously everyone is opposed to drunk drivers. But when you give up liberty for safety, you deserve neither, to loosely paraphrase a Founding Father of this country. Hey! Let’s allow them to keep us really safe. I think they should inspect our homes to make sure we aren’t breaking any laws that might hurt someone. After all, if you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about!“
This was met with cries of, “That’s different” and “You’re being ridiculous”. Plus a few things I can’t publish on a G-rated website. Some of those neighborhood watch folks really don’t seem to like me much.
Realistically, though, how is a DUI checkpoint different than random searches of my home? How is inspecting one area of my property without my consent any different than inspecting another area of my property? If I just let them do their jobs without complaint, it will keep me safer, right? Think about the children!
5 Reasons Why “If You Haven’t Done Anything Wrong” Is an Invalid Argument
There are a lot of problems with the whole “if you aren’t doing anything wrong you don’t have anything to worry about” argument. Here are just a few:
#1.) You are not the person who gets to decide if you have something to worry about. While the purported purpose of a checkpoint might be to look for drunk drivers, what if the police officer looks in your vehicle and sees something, however innocent, that he feels is a cause for concern? What if he thinks that case contains a firearm instead of a cordless screwdriver kit? What if he sees a jug of apple cider and thinks you’re driving with an open container of bourbon? Sure, you’ll be able to prove that you are innocent, but meanwhile, you may find yourself face down on the pavement, getting a swift kick to the ribs if you object, and having the entire contents of your vehicle pulled out on the side of the road.
#2.) The rules change constantly. There are over 10,000 federal laws, each state has thousands of laws, and each community has innumerable codes. Do you honestly believe that with hundreds of thousands of things you could be in violation of that you are within the restrictions on every single one of them? Most of these “laws” are there simply to generate revenue and do absolutely nothing to enhance safety. Every time we walk out our door in the mornings, we can be assured we are in violation of numerous rules we never even knew existed. It’s impossible to live a law-abiding life when the laws are too numerous to remember.
From Wired.com:
For instance, did you know that it is a federal crime to be in possession of a lobster under a certain size? It doesn’t matter if you bought it at a grocery store, if someone else gave it to you, if it’s dead or alive, if you found it after it died of natural causes, or even if you killed it while acting in self defense. You can go to jail because of a lobster.
Sounds ridiculous, right? But it’s a law that is on the books. You could break it and not even realize it. Maybe you actually DO have something to hide and you have absolutely no idea that you are a potential felon.
#3.) You are being gradually inoculated against outrage. Outrage is similar to your body’s immune system. It’s a response that says, “Something is wrong here.” When you are outraged, you are mentally preparing to fight back. With little injustices occurring constantly, people just naturally start to think, “Oh, this is no big deal.” Then the next injustice is a little bit bigger, but because you’ve accepted previous injustices, it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. One day people are going to wake up to the violations that have piled up, one on top of the other, and say to themselves, “Hey, this is America. What the heck!!!” Except by then, it won’t be America anymore. It will be too late to get back our lost freedom.
#4.) Enforcement of laws is entirely subjective. Because there are so many laws out there, we are definitely breaking some, and we don’t even know what they are, what stands between all of us and a prison sentence? The selective judgment of the law enforcement officer who happens to be peering into your vehicle with a flashlight. Do you look like his ex-wife? Is he personally biased against people of your race or ethnic background? Does he passionately hate the sports team you are touting with your t-shirt? Maybe he saw your Gadsden flag bumper sticker and said, “Oh – it’s one of those people,” and decided to look more thoroughly than usual in order to find something you were doing wrong. You are completely at the mercy of the officer’s good graces. Most times, sure, you’ll sail through unscathed, but what about those other times?
This is how corruption in law enforcement and government begin: through subjective laws created to generate revenue and shift the balance of power. You are completely at the mercy of the officer’s good graces. Most times, sure, you’ll sail through unscathed, but what about those other times?
#5.) If they want to condemn you, they can always find something. Remember the lobster law above? Boom….felony. Remember Al Capone? They couldn’t get him for the crimes they wanted him for, but they got him for tax evasion.
Cardinal Richelieu lived in the early 1600s. Even way back then, he knew the truth about the dangers of surveillance. He said:
“If one would give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest man, I would find something in them to have him hanged.”
Now, coming from the Cardinal, that is scary indeed, since he was known for his authoritarian maneuvers, spying, censorship, and a yen for an absolute monarchy. Fast forward to the present, when we live in a place with reams of executive orders that completely bypassed the Congressional checks and balances phase. Think about today, when we have to go through a naked body scanner and take off our shoes to travel to see our grandparents at the holidays. Think about our current situation in America, when civil asset seizure is one of the most profitable businesses around.
Asset forfeiture creates huge incentives for law enforcement officers to “police for profit”. The money can be used for salaries and to purchase advanced equipment.
A program called equitable sharing allows police to take property from citizens under federal civil forfeiture law instead of the applicable state law. This is a great deal for law enforcement because federal law makes civil forfeiture both relatively easy and rewarding – as much as 80 percent of the proceeds are returned to the seizing agency.
You might be “safe” from drunk drivers, but who is going to keep you safe from the State?
When we give away freedom, we never get it back.
Back in 1775, John Adams wrote these prophetic words:
A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.
This is what we are seeing right now. We are living in the end of an era of freedom. If we allow this to continue, in a hundred years, the history books (those secret unrevised ones that tell the real story) will look at our lifetime and say, “This is when Liberty died.”
The America that was created is making its last swirls in the sink before it goes right down the drain, and people think that these small, incremental erosions of our freedom don’t matter. In fact, they love it because it gives them a false sense of security.
Remember the Patriot Act? After 9/11, that document took away freedom in the name of safety. We’ll be throwing away half full bottles of water forever in the airport because of it, forced to submit to people who aren’t even law enforcement officers if we ever wish to board a plane. All for our own safety. We are under threat of the NDAA, which allows indefinite detention without trial of anyone suspected of potential terrorism. All for our own safety. What about the “United Nations Small Arms Treaty that goes into effect on Christmas Eve? Do you think our gun rights that have been lost to overreaching legislation will be returned to us after this globalist disarmament law goes into effect? These liberties are gone forever unless something terribly dramatic occurs.
With the brainwashing going on, that dramatic event that restores liberty is becoming more unlikely. This quote about the local checkpoints, tragically, says it all, and the woman who posted it really, sincerely believes that the violation of our rights is a wonderful thing.
“ I was stopped at that check point as well! I love it! Lives were saved! My 9 year old was in the car and learned a very good lesson!
Thank you officers for being out in the cold night standing around to save lives!”
Her son learned a valuable lesson, all right. And that lesson was “How To Be a Slave and Thank Your Master for Chaining You“.

Thanks for the wise words, that also in my circling the drain country, go unheeded. It has become obvious that the main battlefield in the war against personal freedom, is in the mind! Crazy how effective the brainwashing was/ is.
When I was 21 years old, I distinctly remember being severely chastised by my new sister-in-law. I had been complaining about being pulled over by a cop for speeding. She let me know in no uncertain terms that I needed to be grateful to the cops for my safety and that I would be the first looking for and thanking a cop some day when I really needed one. That day has never come. But at the time, I took what she said and decided she was right. Only thirty some-odd years later do I realize that I was right to be outraged at the cops.
In 2010, I got into one of the few political debates of my life with a guy who worked at a meat processing plant. He said he was grateful and relieved that someone from the government was there to look over his shoulder and make sure he was doing everything “right.”
I don’t know what percentage of these attitudes can be blamed on the authoritarian atmosphere of our schools; on our innate desire to be part of the majority or to feel we are “right” or on the right side of something; or on simple evasion of responsibility or the desire to rule over others, even vicariously. It’s a combination of things. And it’s different for each individual. But it’s so common and prevalent. It’s hard not to feel alone in my convictions.
The phony baloney US of Everything Is Rigged, Illegal (or pending)
Thing is, if you carry their driver’s license, and you accept the name on it as being you, even if that name is written capitalized, surname first with initials instead of words for christian names (thus is is not really you), then you have already accepted their terms and conditions. That’s how they engineer consent.
Thing is, you cannot live in modern society without accepting the DL and other forms of enslavement. Unless you are willing to go deep into the forest and live off the land, you are screwed. So, there is no ‘engineering’ of consent, it is forced on you at the point of a government gun.
That’s right BinIl, this stuff is being forced on us all at gun point, and that is the crux of the problem. I think the problem can be boiled down to the tragedy of the commons. I along with all the rest of us serfs worldwide, never consented to be part owner of all that public property, and never consented to be one of the employers of those “public servants” who guard that public property for us. In a world without public property there might be roads and drunk drivers, but the customer would always be right, and a road owner who abused her customers like our public servants do us would presumably lose customers and lose her business to people who found ways to simultaneously operate safe roads AND treat her customers right.
Sorry to say, but to argue the capitalization of the letters of one’s name gets you nowhere. I’ve attended dozens of seminars where this is pointed out and have met far too many people who tried arguing this in court and it NEVER has worked. They ALL lost despite the best arguments with all the documentation. It may be true but the REAL test is in the court room.
There is much that can be discussed concerning the (planned)collapse of our society and lifestyle from the end of WW2 until approximately 1963 (give or take). Once December 23, 1913 became reality, it was all over. If you read enough books that have meticulous end notes, it is no surprise that **everything** is rigged by man.
Whether one wants to believe it or not, the war behind all wars is the battle between God and Satin. My advise is to repent and accept Christ as your Savior. If we think things are bad now, it it is only going to get worse.
That comment is part of the problem. If you think the end is near you don’t care what the future holds for us all. It will be Orwell 1984 while you still think the end is coming when it never does.
Owatonna Prepper, I agree with you that a defeatist attitude is not conducive to political revolution, but accepting Jesus Christ as your savior is NEVER part of any problem, it is ALWAYS the answer to every problem. So in this, I advise you to heed Me’s advise.
Now, with that said, I say never give an inch! Never back down, never quit! This country is in dire straits. Our government is too far gone to be repaired. I think that the only viable method open to lovers of freedom is SECESSION. We will never be able to regain enough control of the federal government to enact meaningful reforms, therefore, the best option is to leave it behind and form our own government that suits us better. SECESSION IS THE ANSWER! People are beginning to wake up to the fact that something is dangerously and fundamentally wrong with this government, but they laboring under the false notion that the federal government can somehow be reformed and brought “into line.” This is a practical impossibility. No group, such as the “Tea Party” will ever be able to effect enough change to bring leviathan under control. As a matter of fact, just to show the immense power of the people and entities who control the federal government, let me point out that the “Tea Party” has already been infiltrated and coopted. When I heard Neo cons such as Rush Limbaugh and Hannity praising the Tea Party, I knew that their viability as an instrument of change was gone. What we must begin to do is to disabuse people of the idea that this government can be reformed and start getting them to think in terms of a new government, a new COUNTRY of likeminded people. We must start thinking in terms of SECESSION. It is our only hope.
Part of the problem has been the Bible, especially the New Testament. It is copied from much earlier Sumerian and Babylonian texts. While it may be true there is a battle between “good and evil”, there are too many “holes” in the Bible narrative and evidence of it being a compilation of older stories. It is not written by a “God” but by men who may have been inspired by other men, “saints and sages”. I have come to believe through extensive research, those in power go back millennium and were on hand to “influence” the Bible, especially at Nicene.
I think the Bible is used as a “road map” by the elite (as they wrote much of it and along with other books) to topple the world into darkness and chaos. The elite are those families who have a long history of deceit, manipulation and a unquenchable hunger for power and control over the planet that go back thousands of years.
Tricking the populace into believing a Messiah will come back for thousands of years has allowed them to quietly, behind the scenes, continue their advances and agendas so here we are poised on the brink of ruin. It would not surprise me there are relationships with REAL aliens established long ago in their bid to control the rest of us. To assign the exponential leaps and bound advances in technology as human just doesn’t make sense to me.
The Constitution is only as good as the people who follow it. It is obvious everyone in power from the WH down to local judges have no culpability or reason to follow the Constitution. Unless the masses turn around and hold them accountable, not in a court of law, but by the remedy laid down IN the Constitution, we have lost. It is unlikely the populace will ever do this as they are too ignorant AND have beliefs that are too powerful to let go of. Beliefs are thoughts that have a highly emotional attachment to them making them “feel” like truth but may not be true. Beliefs are the most damaging and most difficult thing for people to give up even when faced with the truth. That is why I do not think we will win the war between good and evil. All we can do, those of us who are awake, is to bide our time, take care of ourselves and family the best we can, and hope more wake up as life becomes even more difficult.
Look at all the movies that have come out in the last few years about “end times” and post apocalyptic scenarios, alien invasions and battles. In some sick way “they” are telling us what is coming.

Wrong. The OLD Testament is (maybe) copied from older texts, not the NEW Testament!
First, you have to learn to spell Satan’s name properly.
Everyone has been told that the CONstitution and law automatically apply to everyone. everyone feels it applies, everyone believes it applies, everyone assumes and presumes it applies. HOWEVER;
hearsay, feelings, beliefs, assumptions and presumptions aren’t proof of a damn thing.
What factual, first hand, irrefutable evidence can anyone offer that proves that their CONstitution and laws apply to the private person simply because they are physically in what we commonly refer to as a state.
Keeping in mind that slavery and involuntary servitude is illegal.
Your proof MUST be factual and first hand, you shall not resort to hearsay, beliefs, feelings, assumptions, presumptions, hypotheticals, conjecture, sophistry, fraud, lies, scenarios or what if’s.
Good luck!
“Did you know that any time a police officer pulls you over or responds to your 9-1-1 call, he or she is using a pre-crime algorithm which assigns you a color-coded threat score based not just on your criminal background but on everything including “flagged” purchases and all your social media posts which may include any comments that may be construed as “offensive?”
The officer will receive your color coding — red, yellow or green — before he or she ever even sees you based on factors you are not allowed to see or question.” …
From an article titled, ‘Police Pre-Crime Algorithm Uses Social Media Posts Against You in Real-Time’ by Melissa Melton & Aaron Dykes.
Wow. I guess this article means I’m in big trouble. 🙂
That’s funny because each time I was in different law enforcement positions, the last one being Deputy Sheriff, I never say anything of the sort nor heard of anything like this..
Cops= Gestapo thug bullys. The slime, the scum of the earth!
Gee thanks from a Military Mom and a Police Mom. It’s people like you that my (adult) kids have to deal with on a daily basis.
And people wonder WHY they are grumpy, or suspect everyone is lying to them….because many times people are. (I detest lying, and my kids learned at a young age it just gets you into bigger trouble, so don’t do it). People forget they are human, too!
And by the way: they are preppers–surprise! Some of “them” are like us.
Outstanding article Miss Daisy.
..and per the ‘being in trouble’ meme..call it a badge of honor nowadays..as confronting tyranny is not an option..but an obligation, for those who truly understand the word..
…LIBERTY.
“Well behaved women rarely make history.”
Agreed..yet, perhaps said women, per your reference..
..might duly..and with conviction..remind their ‘males’..of their status/role..
..in a defunct society! ..and what it means to be…fearless!

Blessed…is the man..who has such a better 1/2!!!!!!!!!
12 thumbs up.
What pizzes me off more than anything about these BS police “checkpoints” is the shear BS justification they contrive ….
Around here they maybe will get one drunk driver …. but write 200 freaking tickets for namby pamby BS vehicle violations …. stuff that the normal road stop gets a “get it fixed” …. but these roadblocks need to be paid for …. 20 freaking cops need to be paid and the guy in charge is getting the nickel from the little guy ….
You are correct of course. It is far better that drunk drivers kill thousands every year then you having to stop and talk briefly to a policeman. Makes me question everything you say…
Well said, if I have to be inconvenienced a few minutes or an hour for that matter, then so be it. Whatever it takes to get the drunks off of the road. Here in Texas this summer a drunk driver ran over and killed a young boy while his father was changing a tire. The father took his 357mag. out of the glove compartment and killed the drunk driver. He was indicted for murder, but the jury said not guilty. Every jury should be so smart!
I agree that checkpoints are overboard. There is a nationwide SEATBELT law that I see constantly being disregarded by “those that are doing nothing wrong”. You are ONLY doing nothing wrong in your own mind, under your own rules. There are laws in some States that make you a criminal because you have too many people in a seat; you have a warning light on your dash staying on; inside lights don’t light; your tires do not have the right amount of air pressure; and on and on. Do you not see what is really happening? You are being “programed” to accept Government control. I have called numerous times on cars weaving all across the interstates, but the cops NEVER show up.
Agreed. Same with “putting someone in her trunk” just because they may not agree with her.
That being said… Daisy, was any research done that shows that any and all checkpoints require the following:
1. All DUI checkpoints are released publicly to the media, (newspaper and TV) a full day or more before they are done.
2. All DUI checkpoints must have several posted signs before it to make drivers aware of it.
3. All DUI checkpoints have to.. HAVE TO allow a turnoff to another street that allows drivers to make the choice to avoid the checkpoint.
4. All of the above must be video recorded to show the layout of the checkpoint to make it a fully legal one.
Not as confining or restrictive with these steps in place in my opinion. One of the curses of police work is you really never know who was saved or what was prevented by their work.
I’d tend to focus on the why this practice was first brought into place instead of cursing prevention efforts. An uncaring or entitled mindset population that insists on getting behind the wheel of a 2,000-5,000 piece of metal while inebriated that has caused countless death, harm, tragedy, and unspeakable loss is the blame. It is a unrealized tolerance of this that fuels your “loss of freedom”.
I get your feelings are strong on this but this article doesn’t give the impression it was researched much. While those who choose, (again a freedom) to “tolerate” the checkpoints agitate you, I wanted to point out that these checkpoints were made public in advance and give all the absolute option to turn away from it and take another route before entering it.
Anyone who is arrested for DUI when a checkpoint doesn’t meet the above criteria, go to court and watch it get tossed very quickly.
Not exactly as noose tightening of freedom the article paints it as.
Just Sayin’
Can I get you some polish for your chains?
The delusion of crime prevention is merely an attempted rationalization for taking freedom from innocent people.
Have you honestly never heard of the non-aggression principle? It’s wrong to harm anyone’s person or property who is harming no one. Force, of even the most minute kind is for defense, only. To begin with, the money for the cops’ salary, expenses and equipment are taken, at the point of a gun, from those that earned it. I’ll grant you that the vast majority pay taxes willingly, some even gleefully. But if even one tax victim wouldn’t pay if not forced, it’s still wrong.
Add to that that these checkpoint are just one of a myriad of ways the cops can take your money, your freedom, your privacy, your time and force you to do or forcibly prevent you from doing what they don’t want you doing. Slavery, even in negligible quantities is still evil. Why do you want to live under overlords? What has died in your soul that you applaud the loss of freedom?
No one is arguing that it’s a good idea to drive drunk. But when a person is harming no one, no one has the right to harm him. Hundreds of thousands drive while at or above the legal BAC level every day. But if they reach their destinations without harming anyone, it’s not anyone’s business. The number who do cause harm is statistically zero. Now, those who do cause harm should be dealt with. But everyone else is innocent.
Look, life is risky. Anything could or might happen. It’s when we insane;y try to mitigate any or all of those maybes, those possibilities, that freedom dies. And it’s only a matter of time before something you do is illegal and you lose a freedom that is actually precious to you. Mass suicide of the entire human race is the only true path to absolute safety and security. And that’s where we’re headed- death by a thousand cuts. Because ‘liberty or death’ isn’t just a euphemism. Your freedom IS your life. Don’t sell it so cheaply.
Heil Hitler!
You are a great Nazi!
Now Bend over and show me your papers!
Oops..and..Oh, shit!
..my papers lack the ‘kosher’ stamp!!!
..screw you Adolf-poser!!!! ..better luck, next time!
..btw, get a new handle, bunky..AH is trademarked nowadays!
..stick w/ ‘Stalin or Marx’..
..as at least ‘AH’..had the courage to resist…judeo-tyranny, in his country!
Crime prevention does not justify rights violations. Rights may be inconvenient for LEOs but so is infringement of citizen’s rights. Citizens do not exist to pay LEOs and make their life easier. LEOs exist to benefit citizens. If LEOs and citizens disagree about what benefits, the “decider” is the boss, the payee, the citizen. If citizens disagree and some want to sacrifice rights (liberty) for safety, they are free to sacrifice their own rights, but not others’ rights. This practice of trusting a monopoly to supply defense has forced a dictatorship of the majority, and sometimes worse, a dictatorship of the minority. Having a monopoly supply the roads by taxation (theft) also creates an unfree travel situation. The whole mess started with the creation of an elite who are granted a monopoly on morality. Elected officials decide what is right or wrong with all “checks & balances” proven to be illusionary. This is a failed social system, with the unsustainable burden on our culture resulting in chaos. We need to delete it and reboot with a rejection of monopolies and institutional violence replaced by voluntary interactions and decentralization.
why not use responsibility? instead of mass punishment?
make drunk drivers responsible for their damages, all of it.
and dont line up innocent people at checkpoints…
courts only protect the status quo…
G
Looks like “GoneWithTheWind”s balls are Gone With The Wind. Along with his sense of history, liberty, honor and Constitutionally codified rights. Say hello to the new-age gelded coward!
Democracy and the experiment called the US is hard Joe, mister “breaks the wind” is taking the easy way like most people do. We should search his house and computer and everything else he owns…….he should have nothing to hide.
Wake up people DRIVING is a privilege not a right. The bill of rights makes no mention of driving. If you want to avoid a DUI check point try walking. If you want to worry about something worry about the first and second they are the most important.
False. The fundamental Right to Travel/Freedom of Movement is NOT a “privilege”
http://www.freeenterprisesociety.com/right_to_travel.htm
Well the prob is what you are saying it’s sadly
Correct.
But it should be the way they are saying.
It’s not but it should be.
If you are not breaking any laws you should not have to worry. But that’s not how things work.
As you point out, they keep changing things,
They make nasty illegal laws.
The oh we can stop you for any reason and steal all your winnings from Vegas. We claim is drug money, we know it’s not because we are sitting here just out side the city limit and you have out of state plates. And if you don’t give in we will just threaten to abandon you in the desert with no water.
Our the lovely new one. Cops are not required to know anything about the laws to stop search and arrest you.
That is so wrong.
But they are right. If you are not doing anything wrong you should have to worry. But that Wii? World isn’t the one we live in.
And the big one.
The drunk is the one violating my rights-.-yep.
See everyone right stop at the next person’s skin.
So you have the right to life and pursuit of happiness. But if you happiness is killing people then no. Because they have the right to life, and that trumps. Do your right to drive drunk, I’d trumped by the next person’s right to get home safe.
Do on a perfect world the are right.
But that would doesn’t exist and thinking it does gets people killed lots and lots of people. And I idiots keep thanking the gov for it even as more die.
Do you are right. And I agree, but I really wish you were not.
And they are wrong, but I really wish there were not. And they should be right. Because we all have a right to live on that world.
Not this one.
I don’t care who reads this. I wish to say this and if it offends you then go wipe your years you over grown baby. Thanksgiving day 1986 my cousin and I were hit by a drink driver. My cousin had the most damage with a broken femur, six broken ribs, severe concussion, numerous lacerations and contusions from this accident tag we were involved in while riding a dirt bike. Drunk came up from behind us and hit us, then left the scene of the accident. That was 28 years ago. My cousin still walks with a limp because of his injuries. If he had been stopped at a DUI checkpoint that accident would have need happened. Please feel free to reply to this. Tell you what contact me and if you get mad enough please feel free to come visit me. My email address is [email protected] Come get ya some. The need to be more police and more checkpoints. If it’s so unconstitutional then raise enough hell tht people will listen to you and your pathetic cries. Those who run with sheep are bound to become sheep. Throw me to the wolves and I will return leading them. I am unafraid of anyone. I respect you but I will never cower to you or anyone else.
Some of your sentiments are right. And sorry you and your cousin got hurt. But it’s you who runs with the sheep. Might doesn’t make right. Force is for defense, only. You lie when you say you respect anyone. Respect entails allowing others their rights as human beings, which you seem to vigorously oppose. Your gripe is with the drunk driver that victimized you and no one else. The rest of us are innocent. No one has thrown you to the wolves except the government you seem to want to nurture and grow. Pull your head out of your victimhood and use your strength for good, not evil. The fact that you were harmed doesn’t mean any of us should be.
Better yet……why don’t we ban all alcohol and driving?
After all, **some people** can’t handle it….
How about some **random** police checks of homes for **GUNS**?
After all, some people might get hurt with them guns……
You are a fine Nazi…..Heil Hitler!
I support your observations. A few years back, we were stopped at one of those “border checkpoints” that are actually about sixty miles NORTH of the border in California. The border patrol was using this as an excuse to do random searches of vehicles.(Must have been random; they picked us to search, a pair of innocuous late middle aged people.) When we refused the illegal search, they held us, also illegally, while they used drug dogs to search the vehicle. I was late to work because of it. People who submitted had their vehicles torn apart and their belongings left sitting by the road. At least they understood that our request for their warrant or statement of probable cause was our right, but every time we permit this kind of erosion of rights, we get closer to a police state. I maintain that stopping and holding a person who has done nothing but drive a particular road is illegal and should cease without a question.
This whole smear of comments by brainwashed Nazi lemmings is very disturbing….
So-called “drunk driving” is NOT a real crime!
http://www.lewrockwell.com/2009/04/mark-r-crovelli/drunk-driving-or-sober-driving/
So-called “drunk driving” is merely a “precrime” because something bad MAY happen…….in actuality NOBODYS RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED by so-called “drunk driving”……which is to say their is no VICTIM……NOBODY HAS HAD THEIR LIFE, LIBERTY OR PROPERTY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED!!!!!
Supposedly, the government exsists to punish actual crimes (violations of rights that involve an actual victim) rather then to simply minimize hypothetical risks or conduct “preventive interventions” against things (like guns) or people who “may” potentially do somethings harmful (which is pretty much all of us).
Further, it is simply speculation and conjecture that “drinking” may cause increased risk of traffic accidents……but that is meer guesswork.
The fact is the effects are random and MANY SO-CALLED “DRUNK DRiVERS” can in fact drive safer are less of a risk then many supposedly “sober” drivers!
I would speculate that Dale Earnhart Jr. would probably drive an automobile better then 99% of the human race even after exceeding the subjectively set “DUI” standards of all 50 states.
Drivers over age 65 pose a much greater statistical risk for causing fatal accidents then do the supposed “drunk drivers” but yet I see no rights-violating “geezer checkpoints” to haul these citizens off the roads!
And rightly they shouldn’t haul 65+ drivers off the roads because they haven’t actually harmed anyone! They aren’t criminals……but they are a statistically more dangerous “pre-criminal” then supposedly “drunk” drivers!
The lack of logic and rationale thinking by the Nazi lemmings is appalling. If you think it is worth chucking your fundamental liberties out the window to supposedly “prevent” a few accidents from happening from a group of drivers with a supposed higher risk (“drunk drivers”) then why don’t you apply the same logic and randomly lock up and harass, fine, jail etc another group with a know EVEN HIGHER risk of fatal accidents (over 65 drivers)?
I would attribute their lack of critical thinking to their long indoctrination, er “education” in the government schools but good, grief it is hard to stomach as you said Daisy!
my friend recently was hit by a driver and injured badly….the other driver was sober..therefore i propose outlawing sobriety.
a few years ago, a co-worker was ran over by a driver texting….i now support banning all cell phones.
recently, my grandmother fell and injured herself exiting the bathtub… i would like to see a law passed making tubs illegal…. next i will make a motion to prohibit all water.
People speak of their rights. But what do they really mean?
My rights are not given by some random legalese written by some .gov. They are my natural rights that have to do with life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
Law dawgs claim authority through written code and statute. They have no comprehension of natural rights. They are like the Stasi or SS that simply follow orders. They are the modern day King’s Agents and will follow their orders.
While they may claim it’s “legal”, most times the statute is not actually “lawful” if it violates my freedoms. In other words, it is not lawful, no matter who claims it to be, if there is no victim. No victim, no crime. This is the standard that must be applied to determine if code or statute is lawful.
Of course, what can or will be done is another question. We live in an open air prison dominated by lies backed by force. Most people embrace it with open arms. If you openly resist, at some point, they will kill you.
The general sentiment of the article I agree with, the anti-law enforcement tirade I take issue with. Sorry that you suffer “physical pain” when others express their gratitude for police officers, and believe that any encounter with one can quickly escalate to a “swift kick to the ribs,” given that they’re corrupt, racist, sexist, and generally prejudiced against anyone and everyone. Nine out of ten law enforcement agents I meet are twice as unhappy with the bullshit laws (that they did not make and can’t feed their families if they fail to uphold) and the wasting of tax-payers dollars (which they are forking over, too). Many are also Veterans, who every single day that they wear the badge have to reconcile the oath they made to uphold the United States Constitution with their sworn duties as policemen and women. I think sometimes it’s just easier to focus our frustration on them than at the lawmakers and administrators directly responsible.
BS laws “that they did not make and can’t feed their families if they fail to uphold”.
Is someone finaly admitting that thugs, aka cops, are unfit for any other purpose than the roles they currently play? Because when I realized that the company I had been working for, for over 4 years, was ran by corrupt and sadistic people I simply quit and made a career change.
Life, liberty and love are all centered around SIMPLE CHOICE.
Grow up and start taking responsibility for your choices! Only then are you authorized to hold others responsible for their choices.
(Apparently a national gun owner database is very useful.)
Gun owners fear Maryland cops target them for traffic stops
Stories pile up but police say searches are legal.
“A year ago this New Year’s Eve, John Filippidis of Florida was driving south with his family on Interstate 95 when the Maryland Transportation Authority Police pulled over his black Ford Expedition and proceeded to raid it while his twins, wife and daughter looked on — separated in the back seats of different police cruisers.
The officers were searching for Mr. Filippidis‘ Florida-licensed, palm-size Kel-Tec .38 semi-automatic handgun, which he left at home locked in his safe. (Maryland does not recognize handgun permits issued by other states.)”
Police target and search travelers with a concealed carry license.

Just stop feeding the machine people! Stop paying taxes, stop participating in their ‘anything’, stop the gears from churning. Hell with violence, it’s not necessary…just stop feeding the machine. If we ALL do it it has impact, but if we’re all too docile, drugged up, entertained, dumbed down, fluoridated, indoctrinated, mindwashed to actually solidify, then perhaps we’re going to get what we deserve for being complacent little slaves. Stop acknowledging them as your supposed ‘authority’, don’t deal with them.
exactly!
this is all possible thru minimalism, instead of vanity driven lifestyle.
But really stop selling alcohol. No more drunk driving. But wait then there would be no $$$$ to be made. Dont get it twisted, everything is profit over people, under the guise of safety. Lol think about if everyone on the planet literally “obeyed” every law and traffic law. When it comes to the end of the month what would the police do? Tickets for everyone.
This is beautifully written, thank you. (I was distracted by the Al Capone reference, though, as he is not an good example of people just minding their own business.)
The people who like to control other people are psychopaths. All of the ridiculous laws being made are done by people with no conscience. Recognize psychopaths and stop following their rules- Psychopath Test Politicians http://petition.NoPsycho.Org
Car searches? What are the cops doing? Down in Oz (Australia) police officers are not allowed to search your car at a DUI checkpoint (but we call them Random Breath Tests-RBTs) unless the little handheld machine that dectects alcohol just by your breath goes beep. By using the latest tech, unnecessary police searches are deterred, as a little nifty machine and one use paddle can be used to test for drunkedness and drug use. All the cops need is you to roll down your window, blow into a straw, maybe lick a little paddle and you’re on your way. No car search. No body trauma. No walking the line. Just a breath of air, and you’re free to go. Also, to prevent traffic jams, RBTs will pick random drivers, instead of every driver.
