It appears that the Virginia State Congress hasn’t been taking enraged citizens very seriously. In today’s meeting of the Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee, four of the recently proposed anti-gun bills were advanced to the Senate for a vote which could take place any day now.
Senate Bill 35, Senate Bill 69, Senate Bill 70, and Senate Bill 240 were the bills under discussion today.
Which bills are these?
The NRA provided a rundown on the bills.
- Senate Bill 35 will destroy Virginia’s firearm preemption laws by allowing localities to create new “gun-free zones” in and around public buildings and parks. Criminals will ignore these restrictions, leaving law-abiding citizens unable to defend themselves and their loved ones.
- Senate Bill 69, commonly referred to as “one-gun-a-month,” would impose an arbitrary one gun limit on an individual’s right to lawfully purchase a handgun within 30 days.
- Senate Bill 70 would ban many sales and transfers between private individuals without first paying fees and obtaining government permission. Firearm sales between friends, neighbors, or fellow hunters, would not be exempted. Transfers between family members are also likely to be banned based on the vague wording of the proposed legislation. This proposal would have no impact on crime and is completely unenforceable.
- Senate Bill 240 looks to create so-called “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders. This bill will take your constitutionally-guaranteed rights and throw them out the window with insufficient due process in place. (source)
There are other bills which have yet to be discussed by the Judiciary Committee. One would make any firearm that is capable of holding more than 10 rounds a felony (regardless of whether you possess an extended magazine) and others would ban private gun ranges and create “ammo-free” zones.
They’ve banned guns in the capital for everyone but themselves.
These votes were taken in the newly gun-free (as of last week) capital.
Well, gun-free except for lawmakers. We’d hate to see them “slowed down.”
But as a practical matter, Capitol Police Col. Steve Pike said, the policy will not be enforced with lawmakers. Requiring them to pass through metal detectors would probably slow them down as they travel between the Capitol and the adjacent Pocahontas Building, which the ban also covers. In addition, he said, legislators are immune from prosecution during the session, under a law intended to ensure their performance of the people’s business is not impeded. (source)
The hypocrisy is real, folks. And this fight is just beginning.
Hold steady, fellow gun owners. I hope you prevail!
So Virginia has named a building in the Capitol after Lizzy Warren?
Regarding Senate bill 70, “is completely unenforceable”. I live in a state with this as law. It is enforceable. It may sometimes be after the fact, meaning after a crime has been committed, but even then someone can be punished for an illegal transfer. The biggest thing that has happened is that on forums, such as Armslist, sellers make it very plain that they will not sell unless the firearm is legally transferred using an FFL dealer, and the buyer will pay for the transfer. PERIOD.
I maintain that the government does NOT care what WE the people WANT. They have the POWER, the GUNS, the ABILITY to ENFORCE what THEY want. We have:
Obesity
Apathy
Drug Addiction
Food Addiction
Addiction of every kind
As we continue to move down the path of NO RETURN.
The people I meet and speak to, do NOT care where we are at nor, sadly, where we are going. People always ask me where I meet the people I talk to. I tell them, “On the streets. In the stores. They are everywhere!”
One last thing, I watch as people walk right by PETITION TABLES, you know, the petitions asking for signatures in an attempt to get certain things put to the forefront for people to vote on.. No one cares.Last week I counted 4 people who walked right by Signature table as I was ENTERING the store and when I was LEAVING the store, I stood by and counted 7 people who declined. The signature collector looked at me and said.’This is WHY nothing ever changes!”
Do what you can with what you’ve got. ………..
God cannot nor will not bless a nation that curses Him and who has turned from Him. He judges us COLLECTIVELY as a nation., individually as well but collectively? Where we go one, we go all.
This will happen when people are duped into believing that there is someone who is good enough to rule over them.
They aren’t going to take them serious because they failed to vote, call or show when it counted. Kinda like trying to raise a kid when they are a teen instead of from the start. It doesn’t work out too well.
It’s always easier to win a fight if your winning rather than trying to come back from losing.
